Clingy

We've been on Tara-watch all week. Trying to judge if she is her usual self or does unusual things which in all honesty is hard to do. She's upto new stuff every single day and how do we distinguish normal toddler behaviour with weird, this could be due to the concussion? She definitely has become more clingy, to me only me. She cries for me in the middle of the night distinctly yelling Mama-Mummy-Mamaaah and no one but me needs to carry her and console her. Also she is falling more than she used too, even the folks at Daycare noticed it so we are taking her back to the doc this week. Sigh.

Avi cancelled his trip to Seattle, which was disappointing. He was assigned as Tara's play date for this long Memorial day weekend. So we immediately went and bought her a Sand-Water table to keep her occupied. As luck would have it, it rained this weekend and the sand is wet and slushy. Tara keeps saying Awhside, Go Awhside to play with the sand. Here's a short video of her, enjoying the new messy toy.

We went to the Kelsey Creek Farm where she enjoyed talking to the few barn animals. Was surprised to hear her identify all the animals correctly and even add the sound effects to boot: Moo-Cow, Baa-Cheep, Neegh-House, and the famous duck-ducka-duck. I've updated the Photo Album with more pictures.

Down the stairs

** Tara is fine. Shaken and stirred but fine **

We were getting ready to go to our friend Meenu's place for a gourmet lunch cooked by her mom when the most horrible thing ever happened. S was carrying Tara like a sack of potatoes over his shoulders down the stairs, he tripped and we heard a THUMP, THUMP, THUMP. A shout out for help and a whimper. I ran downstairs and grabbed Tara. She was whining not crying and soon began to drop off to sleep in my arms. That worried us, we tried to distract her but she just wanted to rest on my shoulder. We called the Ped and got instruction to rush to the ER.

We were on the road seconds later. Then Tara went silent and blank. As in not moving, no eye contact and a blank stare. I yelled Tara, Tara - no response. She just plopped her head to the side and my heart.stopped.beating. I yelled and shoke her, nothing. S was watching in his rear view mirror and was trembling too. She then looked blankly at me and puked and puked.

We reached the ER with a vomit soaked child in hand and they give us forms, bloody forms to complete. They said they had a Chest patient ahead and we have to wait. I was trying to talk to Tara, trying to get something anything from her - still nothing.

We finally go into the ER. The doc examines her, tries to make her stand she stumbles, it was like she had forgotten to walk. She mutters a weak Avi. I have never been happier to hear my brother's name. That's all she says. Doc says we need to have a CAT scan even though he can't find any physical injuries.

We are sent to the CAT scan room. I had to stand outside and I hear my baby cry and say mama, mama. I was ready to pass out. We go back down and wait, the wait was killing us slowly. By then Tara is awake thankfully and remembers the words to Wheels of the bus, we sing through our tears just to see her respond.

The results come back, everything is normal. They ask us to monitor her for the next 2 days. We get home and then I notice this big bump on her forehead. How did we miss it? How did the doc miss it? That confirmed the fact that when S fell she came down hard on the steps - 3 steps - Thump, Thump, Thump. We ponder whether to go back to the ER, doc says to wait and see. Tara played in the evening and responded so we stayed home.

Took her today to the Doc again and everything seems normal.

Our baby is okay.

Two Videos

This is gonna be a quick Saturday post cause our weekends are more busy than our weekdays. I go to work to relax, kick back and read the newspaper. At home it's all about what do we do next with Tara! Last nite Tara's Gymboree friend and one day older Nia came by. After the initial "why are we both the same height" glance they warmed up to each other and had an extensive game where Tara would hid in the kitchen and yell Mliya-Mliya and Nia would come guide her to the living room. This went on like 14,567,000 times.

It was nursery rhyme time last nite as well. This video is not too clear but delightful. Especially to see Mom and Mr.S screw up the words of Pat-a-cake.

All quiet on this front

I'm still around, just a bit quiet of late. A lot that's keeping me occupied and a lot on my mind.

- For those wondering about the pink lines on the pregnancy test - yeah the result is a positive. I'm due Nov 5th, but probably earlier since it's scheduled, no 16 hours of painful labor on round 2, thank you very much. I knew I'd turn into a house this time considering I still have weight hanging around from Tara's birth but I've already gained 5 pounds so the house is turning into an apartment complex.

- My brother leaves for China in a month and Mom leaves for India the same time. I've started missing them already and not sure how Tara is going to handle it. Avi and Agi are her two favorite people besides Elmo and she's gonna be asking for them non-stop.

- The Sopranos has only 3 episodes left, boy does it hurt. My dad looked (thought he looked) a lot like James Gandolfini and was obsessed with the show. We used to have lenghty conversations after every episode and it was our time, nothing came in the way. This last season has got me thinking of my old man even more. Somehow I'm linking the end of the show with the end of my time with him. Shamu left us in '04 but the show carried on for him, for me. This ending is inevitable but I'm not ready to let go.

- On a lighter vein, I watched the movie The Holiday over the weekend and I've been left completely speechless over the sheer hotness of Jude Law.

- Finally I have no Tara picture to post, well just the one below. Tara doesn't let me click any. As soon as I take out the camera she yells Tarah-show-show. She knows you can view pics on the camera and is constantly wanting it in her hand. What's a blog post without cutey pictures, I know you come for the pictures!

- Oh and possibly the last thing for being so quiet - I'm pondering what to do with this!! The weather has finally improved and the NBA fever is upon us so we went and bought this tub. But you see the evil weather Gods only bring the sunshine out on weekdays so we haven't really put it outside the house. Nice center table, no?

Rhymes and a picture

1) Nee Myyy Nicce, Nee Myyy Nicce
2) Pat tha piey, Pat tha piey
3) Mally Melly Melly .... leam
4) Bababababababa cheap
5) Aaaiii - Eeeeeh - Iiiii - Oooohhh - Thuuuuuu

Tara is into singing nursery rhymes. The one problem being we can't recognize them until she sings alone with us. Until then we all look at each other going Wah? Then mom sings each song one by one until Bingo, Tara starts to chime in. Could you make out what the above songs were, bet not.

1) Three blind mice
2) Pat a cake
3) Row your boat
4) Baba black sheep
5) AEIOU - ok I cheated, this is not a nursery rhyme but she says her vowels. Henry Higgins would be proud.

Tara's vocabulary is increasing tenfolds everyday. She doesn't just repeat what we say now but has a mind of her own and expresses it. Today she went into the kitchen pointed to the toaster and said Toast Cheez Toast. Mom was trying to feed her some fruit but she wanted her cheese toast. She makes it known when she doesn't want anything with a strict No-Noh. Not just a No! but a No-Noh! accompanied by vigorous shaking of the head for emphasis. She even comes to us and demands a Hug. Mama, Hug? Biggg Hug? - melts my heart every single time.

I'll end with a picture cause a picture says a thousand words but in this case one will do.
